Shakuhachi Donations for Auction

In addition to the photos (below) of outstanding shakuhachi so generously donated by Japan's Living National Treasure Aoki Reibo, exceptional shakuhachi have also been generously donated (photos coming soon) by these world-class shakuhachi makers:

Financial Donations

Yokoyama Katsuya Sensei
, one of the foremost and respected shakuhachi teachers in Japan and around the world, has graciously donated $5,000 to the festival.

Yamaguchi Shugetsu Sensei, considered one of the outstanding Shakuhachi makers of the world, will be donating 10% of his Shakuhachi sales to the Festival. Shugetsu-Sensei is particularly known for his long flutes.

AOKI REIBO Shakuhachi for Auction

The shakuhachi auction will take place on Sunday, August 1, 2004 in the evening. The auction will be held from 8:15 PM to 8:35 PM, after the Modern concert and before the Honkyoku concert. Above are just some of the shakuhachi that have been donated. More photos will be added as they become available, and all will be available for viewing and playing in the Silverstein Lounge each day of the festival up until auction time.
